Blacks and Jews in America: An Invitation to Dialogue
The authors of "Blacks and Jews in America: An Invitation to Dialogue" aim to create an event series that spreads the virtues discussed in their book. The goal is to encourage community awareness and action through dialogue, focusing on the shared history and alliance between Black and Jewish communities.
Moishe House
Moishe House seeks to develop a comprehensive facilitation guide for Shabbat dinners that fosters dialogue and discussion around themes of perseverance, drawing from the Black and Jewish alliance and their shared history. This guide aims to strengthen community bonds and promote understanding through meaningful conversations.
The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA)
The Jewish Federations of North America seeks to strengthen community bonds and promote cultural pride through a collaborative community art project. This initiative will engage local artists, youth, and community members in creating a public artwork that reflects shared values and history.
United Negro College Fund (UNCF)
The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) aims to increase the number of Black high school seniors who matriculate into higher education institutions. The goal is to develop a comprehensive advocacy plan and organize a Day of Action to present to elected officials, highlighting the importance of supporting Black students in their educational journeys.
Anti-Defamation League
The ADL (Anti-Defamation League) has long been at the forefront of fighting hate, bigotry, and anti-Semitism across the United States. Despite ongoing efforts, hate crimes continue to rise in many communities, highlighting the urgent need for innovative, community-driven approaches to combat these issues. Communities are uniquely positioned to lead efforts to reduce hate crimes because they are directly impacted and often have a deep understanding of local dynamics.
This project invites students to propose community-based strategies for reducing hate crimes in local areas, focusing on creating programs, partnerships, and educational campaigns that can be implemented at the grassroots level. The goal is to explore how communities, when empowered with the right resources and support, can play an active role in fostering inclusivity, reducing hate, and ensuring safety for all.
FISLL
FISLL is a purpose-driven lifestyle brand rooted in the values of Faith, Integrity, Sacrifice, Love, and Legacy. FISLL has launched a powerful Black History Collection to celebrate and amplify Black voices, culture, and history while fostering social and economic mobility in the Black community.
The goal of this project is to design a unique merchandising line that brings heightened awareness to the Black History Collection and aligns with FISLL's mission to uplift and empower. Students will leverage creativity and strategic thinking to conceptualize products that resonate with the brand's target audience and reflect the community-focused values of FISLL.
Charlotte Black-Jewish Alliance (CBJA)
The Charlotte Black-Jewish Alliance (CBJA), hosted by the Stan Greenspon Center for Peace and Social Justice, seeks to unite Black and Jewish communities in Charlotte, NC to fight hate and promote justice. Their work is rooted in shared historical struggles, values of liberation and equity, and a future-forward vision of multiracial democracy.
Across the United States—and increasingly around the world—similar coalitions have formed to advance these same ideals. From interfaith advocacy groups to racial justice alliances within synagogues and historically Black churches, there is powerful, grassroots work happening in silos. Yet no formal infrastructure currently exists to connect, elevate, and accelerate this collective work. There is an urgent need to aggregate the learnings, relationships, and models that have emerged and strategically weave them into a shared ecosystem.
CBJA envisions a future where Black-Jewish coalitions are networked, resourced, and aligned—sharing curricula, co-developing programs, exchanging best practices, and advocating together at scale. Your challenge is to investigate the global landscape of Black-Jewish alliances and propose a comprehensive strategy for how CBJA can spark and lead the development of a unifying platform or entity that advances this movement globally.
